Alexander Blockx vs Dalibor Svrcina prediction

Alexander Blockx qualified in Toronto after defeating Duje Ajdukovic 6-4 6-4. His recent form on the Challenger Tour has been particularly impressive. At the start of this month, he reached the final in Winnipeg. He made a fabulous start against Liam Draxl but eventually went down 1-6 6-3 6-4. He then made the last four in Granby before another defeat to Draxl. The 20-year-old has already won a title in Oeiras earlier on in the season, playing Draxl once again in the final.

Dalibor Svrcina is ranked just one place higher at 120 in the world. The 22-year-old enters the main draw as a lucky loser, having lost to Yusuke Watanuki in three sets in qualifying. He does have a Challenger win on hard courts this season, having won the event in Pune at the end of February. He also won on clay in Barletta and made the final in Poznan. However, his recent form has been less impressive and he’s currently on a four match losing streak.

Blockx has far more recent wins under his belt and is performing well this month. We expect him to come through this one and record a first win on the ATP Tour.
