Karen Khachanov once again got the better of Felix Auger-Aliassime to progress in Beijing.

The Russian backed up his US Open win over the Canadian with a 6-3 6-3 success to upset the second seed here and leave him with a sad sense of deja vu.

Khachanov will now face Alex Molcan for the second time after the Slovakian qualifier beat lucky loser Tomas Machac 6-3 6-2.  

Molcan actually defeated Karen 6-2 7-6 on clay in Lyon back in 2022, so will fancy his chances. That said, Khachanov is playing with real belief right now and that win over FAA should lay the foundations for another solid showing here.
