Alex Michelsen vs Karen Khachanov prediction
Alex Michelsen defeated compatriot Learner Tien to reach the quarter-finals in Toronto. This is the first time he has reached the last eight of a Masters tournament. Michelsen dropped serve on just one occasion as he benefitted from a number of errors from Tien to win 6-3 6-3.
He will face Karen Khachanov after the Russian defeated Casper Ruud in straight sets. Khachanov won 97% of his first serve points as he registered his first ever victory against the Norwegian, winning 6-3 6-3. Ruud performed poorly, with weak play at the net and consistent errors on his forehand side. Nevertheless, Khachanov is in his best run of form of the season and has now made the last eight or better in his last four tournaments.
Michelsen does lead the head-to-head 1-0, having beaten Khachanov in straight sets at the Australian Open earlier this season. The world number 16 is now performing at a far higher level and should be the favourite to advance in this one.
