Alex Michelsen vs Daniil Medvedev prediction
Alex Michelsen extended his unbeaten record against Stefanos Tsitsipas as he beat the former world number three for a third time in the last round of the Halle Open. The American was solid on serve in the first set and managed to take it on a tiebreak. He served out the match at the second attempt to seal an ultimately comfortable 7-5 7-6 win over an out-of-sorts Tsitsipas.
Daniil Medvedev will be his opponent in the next stage and the Russian has still not dropped a set at this year’s tournament. He beat Quentin Halys 6-2 7-5 to book a place in the last eight. It was a very strong serving performance from the third seed, who won 91% of his points on first serve and didn’t even give up a break point.
Their only meeting was earlier this year in the third-round of Indian Wells but Michelsen retired after just two service games had been completed. The American is clearly comfortable on the grass and is a dangerous player, but Medvedev has been very solid so far this week and is fine value to reach the semi-finals here.
Alex Michelsen vs Daniil Medvedev tip: Daniil Medvedev to win 2-1
