Alex de Minaur vs Stefanos Tsitsipas prediction
Alex de Minaur was unable to progress to the last eight at Wimbledon as he was beaten in straight sets by Flavio Cobolli in the round-of-16. His season began strongly after a quarter-final run at the Australian Open and a title in Rotterdam, but De Minaur has lacked his usual consistency in the months that have followed. He is the defending champion at this event, having defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in a thrilling final last year.
He faces Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first-round. The former world number three and two-time Grand Slam finalist won his first title in 16 months last time out, as he beat Raphael Collignon in the final of the Swiss Open. The Greek is now closing in on the top 50 of the world rankings, and Tsitsipas will hope to build on that momentum with a strong showing in Washington.
He will take an enormous amount of confidence from the head-to-head, as he leads 12-1, and he also beat De Minaur earlier this year in Miami. De Minaur lacks the offensive weapons to trouble Tsitsipas on a regular basis, and he is vulnerable once again here.
Alex de Minaur vs Stefanos Tsitsipas tip: Over 23.5 games
