Alex de Minaur is the top seed in Rotterdam and will be looking to go all the way, having reached the final over the last two years, but losing out to Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz respectively. He was unable to make his first Grand Slam semi-final as he fell at the quarter-final stage yet again, losing in straight sets to Alcaraz. De Minaur produced brilliant performances to dismantle both Frances Tiafoe and Alexander Bublik in previous rounds, but he was no match for the Spaniard.
He goes up against Arthur Fils. The Frenchman made his long-awaited return to the tour in Montpellier last week after an extended spell out with injury. He picked up two wins over Valentin Royer and Ugo Blanchet to make the quarter-finals but was uncompetitive against top seed and eventual champion Felix Auger-Aliassime.
The head-to-head is 1-1, but this is their first match indoors. De Minaur is the favourite to win, with Fils still gradually making his return, but the Frenchman remains a tough first-round opponent for the top seed and will make him work for the win.
