Alex Barrena’s best result of the season so far was a semi-final appearance in Itajai on the Challenger Tour, though he was thrashed by Thiago Seyboth Wild in the last four, winning just a solitary game. That defeat seems to have led to a downturn in form as Barrena has won just one of his last three matches. He suffered an early exit at the Rosario Challenger last week and is currently ranked 180 in the world.

Vit Kopriva is his first-round opponent.
