Aleksandar Vukic continued his progress in Adelaide after getting past Andrea Vavassori in straight sets. Vukic dominated the first set but was pegged back in the second after going a break up. He squandered two break points at 5-5 and was 5-4 down in the tiebreak but reeled of the last three points to win 6-2 7-6 (5).
He now goes up against Tommy Paul for a place in the last four. Paul got his first win of 2026 in the previous round after getting past Reilly Opelka in straight sets. The former world number eight did not even concede a break point as he won 6-4 6-4 after one hour and 11 minutes.
This was Paul’s first win for quite some time on the tour after ending his 2025 season early due to injury. He will be expected to come through this in straight sets and advance to the semi-finals.
