Aleksandar Vukic entered the main draw as Reilly Opelka, his qualifying opponent, withdrew before their match took place. The Australian’s ranking has steadily dropped to 100 in the world and his results on the ATP Tour have been largely unimpressive, apart from a run to the quarters of the Tokyo Open last month. 

Terence Atmane raised his profile after his magnificent run to the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Open in August. Results since then have been mixed, as he did get through qualifying for the China Open and took a set off Jannik Sinner in the second-round, but also failed to qualify for Vienna just last week.

This is a difficult one to call as neither player can be viewed as a clear favourite to win. Atmane will hope to impress a home crowd, but his fitness has also been an issue since Cincinnati, as he also had to withdraw from Shanghai. Nevertheless, Vukic has struggled to put form together in 2025, and this could end up going to three.
