Aleksandar Vukic picked up a brilliant victory in round one as he defeated two-time Grand Slam finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets. A close match saw no breaks of serve, with Vukic coming out on top in both tiebreaks. He has now won three matches in a row, having won both of his qualifying encounters to enter the main draw in Adelaide. Vukic will be seeking more matches under his belt before the start of the Australian Open, where he made the third-round last year.

He takes on Andrea Vavassori in the next round. The Italian pulled off the upset of the event so far as he beat Gabriel Diallo in straight sets. He served well, only conceding the one break point, as he won 6-3 7-6 (4).

Vavassori is going to take huge confidence from that win, but Vukic has home support on his side and will be looking to dictate a lot of the early rallies in order to give himself an advantage early on.
