Aleksandar Kovacevic vs Reilly Opelka prediction

Aleksandar Kovacevic will be hoping for a strong showing in Dallas after a dip in results recently. His season began strongly, with three straight victories as he made the semi-finals in Brisbane. However, Kovacevic was then dumped out of Auckland and the Australian Open in the first-round, before back-to-back second-round losses to Titouan Droguet in Quimper and Montpellier, with the former being a Challenger event.

He faces fellow American and 2022 champion Reilly Opelka in the first-round. Opelka did show some form in Melbourne as he beat Nicolai Budkov Kjaer in straight sets, and tested top 20 player Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in their second-round match. Opelka fought back from two sets down but would lose in five.

Opelka leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a first-round win at the Atalanta Open in 2024. His serve will provide him with a number of free points in these conditions. This should be a competitive match, but Opelka is a former winner here and could have the edge.
