Alexander Kovacevic has not managed to pick up results across the last few weeks on grass. He suffered an early loss in Stuttgart, and then only entered the draw at Queen’s Club as a lucky loser, losing in round one to eventual champion Francisco Cerundolo. The American then competed in Eastbourne but lost once more to Daniel Altmaier.
He takes on Botic van de Zandschulp in the first-round of Wimbledon. The Dutchman also entered Queen’s Club, winning his opening match against Harry Wendelken but then losing in straight sets to Tommy Paul.
These two faced each other for the first time at the Italian Open last month, with Van de Zandschulp coming from a set down to beat Kovacevic. Neither player is in sparkling form, but Van de Zandschulp does have the superior record at SW19, having advanced to the round-of-16 in 2022. If he is able to maintain a high first serve percentage, he can limit the opportunities for his opponent.
