Alejandro Tabilo competed in Hong Kong after qualifying victories over Luca Van Assche and Yi Zhou. However, he would lose in the first-round to Michael Mmoh in straight sets. He now returns to an event which he won in 2024, beating Taro Daniel in the final. Tabilo’s highlight of last season was his stunning title win in Chengdu, where he defeated top seed Lorenzo Musetti in the final.
He faces Camilo Ugo Carabelli in the first-round this year. The Argentine competed in Brisbane last week but also lost in the first-round after a straight sets defeat to ATP Next Gen champion Learner Tien. Ugo Carabelli won just five outdoor hard court matches this season.
Tabilo is the stronger player on this surface and will fancy his chances of victory. He did not display his best last week in the opening round of the Hong Kong Open, but he is familiar with this event and will be seen as the favourite for this one.
