Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Juan Manuel Cerundolo prediction
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina arrives at Wimbledon fresh from the biggest moment of his career after finally claiming his maiden ATP Tour title in Mallorca. The Spaniard had lost each of his previous five finals, but he finally got the job done on home soil with a straight sets win over Ethan Quinn. He will be hoping that victory provides the platform for a deep run at SW19, with his best result being two third-round appearances in 2023 and 2025.
Juan Manuel Cerundolo is his first-round opponent. The Argentine won the first two matches on grass in his career to reach the quarter-finals at the Eastbourne Open last week. However, he then lost to lucky loser Toby Samuel in straight sets. Cerundolo reached the round-of-16 at Roland Garros earlier this month, which included the comeback win over world number one Jannik Sinner.
There has been little time for Davidovich Fokina to savour his maiden ATP Tour title, and the first round may present a mental test, though he is still a commanding favourite to advance.
