Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Jakub Mensik prediction

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina passed a tough test in the second-round as he defeated the dangerous Corentin Moutet in straight sets. The Spaniard had put everything into his run to the final of the Washington Open last week, where had championship points to win, but he showed no signs of fatigue as he won 6-4 6-3. Davidovich Fokina won six service games in a row at one point and held off a Moutet fightback in the second to set up a third-round match with Jakub Mensik.

Mensik won his first match on a hard court since his Miami Open triumph in March. He defeated Tristan Boyer 6-4 6-4 without dropping his serve, though he did still have to save seven break points in total. His powerful serve was a big weapon as always, with the 19-year-old winning 94% of his first serve points and hammering down 13 aces.

Davidovich Fokina leads the head-to-head 3-1 and 2-0 on outdoor hard court. They played a five set thriller in the third-round of the Australian Open this year, with the Spaniard coming from two sets down to win. We expect another close battle between the pair in Toronto.
