Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Frances Tiafoe prediction

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina began his Shanghai Masters campaign with a straight sets win over Jenson Brooksby. The Spaniard broke on five separate occasions and struck five aces, winning 6-1 6-3 after one hour and 11 minutes. Davidovich Fokina picked up his second title of the season at the start of the Asian swing, winning the Chengdu Open in his first tournament back from injury. 

He now faces Frances Tiafoe. The three-time US Open semi-finalist converted all three of his break point opportunities on his way to a 6-4 6-4 victory over Yannick Hanfmann. Tiafoe is currently sixth in the Race to Turin, as he seeks a first ever appearance at the end of year event.

Tiafoe leads the head-to-head 3-1 and 2-1 on outdoor hard court. They last faced each other at the Miami Open in 2025, with the 28-year-old winning in two close sets. This is likely to be another hard-fought encounter between the two.
