Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Corentin Moutet prediction

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina suffered heartbreak last week as he failed to win his first ATP title in Washington despite having three match points against Alex de Minaur. The Spaniard was also 5-2 up in the decider but couldn’t get the job done and looked visibly distraught by the end. Nevertheless, there we so many positives for Davidovich Fokina to take from the week, including brilliant victories over the American pair of Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton.

He begins his Canadian Open campaign with a tricky match against Corentin Moutet. Moutet continued the momentum from his semi-final finish in Washington as he thrashed Jenson Brooksby 6-1 6-2. He has six wins from his last seven matches, including qualifying stages.

This is their first tour-level match against each other, though Davidovich Fokina has beaten Moutet in two Italian Open qualifiers without the drop of a set. Nevertheless, this will be their first encounter on a hard court.

Last week’s exploits will have taken a lot out of Davidovich Fokina, and he could find himself in trouble against an in-form Moutet. We could see this going into a deciding set.
