Ajla Tomljanovic ended a five-match losing run in the first-round of the Libema Open as she comfortably defeated Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. The Australian was broken in her very first service game, but it was complete domination after that as she broke her opponent’s serve on five separate occasions, winning 6-3 6-1 after one hour and nine minutes.
She now faces Dayana Yastremska for a place in the quarter-finals. Yastremska also eased into the next round after a 6-1 6-2 victory over Sara Bejlek. The Ukrainian made a brilliant start as she won the first five games of the match, completing the win after one hour and 18 minutes.
