Ajla Tomljanović returns to action for the first time since Wimbledon where she was eliminated in the first round by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. She has had a reasonable year to date so far but she will be hoping for a strong second half of the season in North America where she has had some good times in recent years.

She kicks off her Canadian Open campaign against Latvia’s Anastasija Sevastova. The 35-year-old has played since Wimbledon as she played in Romania at the Iasi Open but she was knocked out in the first round.

It is now over two months since she last won a singles match in Morocco and she will be hoping for a change in fortunes in Canada.
