Adrian Mannarino vs Christopher O’Connell prediction

Christopher O’Connell has barely made an impact on the grass this season. He recorded first-round losses at the Birmingham Challenger, Libema Open and Queen’s Club. His last outing was one to forget as he lost to Great Britain’s Johannus Monday in the first stage of qualifying for the Eastbourne International.

He will face Adrian Mannarino in round one. The Frenchman came from a set down to beat Li Tun in the final stage of qualifying. Mannarino has made the fourth-round of Wimbledon in three separate occasions and has two grass court titles under his belt.

The head-to-head is in Mannarino’s favour, as he has won both of their meetings. Crucially, he beat O’Connell earlier this month in the first-round of the Libema Open. It was a very comfortable win too, with the 37-year-old winning 6-1 6-3.

Mannarino is a fine grass court player and despite his age, he will be fancied to make it through against O’Connell and extend his unbeaten run against the Australian.
