Adam Walton impressed at the Cincinnati Open as he won his first two matches without the drop of a set. He was then a set and a break up against Jaime Faria and looked on course for a round-of-16 appearance at a Masters 1000 event, but Faria fought back to win in three. That would have been a disappointment for the Australian, but there were still plenty of positives to take ahead of this event and the US Open at the end of the month.

He begins his campaign against Jesper de Jong. The Dutchman lost in straight sets against Alex Michelsen in the first-round at Cincinnati. He then dropped down to compete on the Challenger Tour in Quebec City, winning his first couple of matches against Dane Sweeny and Nicolai Budkov Kjaer to advance to the quarter-finals. However, his run then came to an end after a loss to Hugo Gaston.

Walton will look to extend the rallies at any given opportunity, and force errors from De Jong. He is the more solid of the two on this surface, and is the favourite to win.
