Adam Walton vs Daniil Medvedev prediction

Adam Walton advanced from the first-round of the Almaty Open after defeating compatriot Tristan Schoolkate in three sets. The first two sets were highly competitive, with both players winning one each on a tiebreak. However, Walton would run away with it in the decider to win 7-6 6-7 6-2. 

He now goes up against former world number one Daniil Medvedev. He reignited his stuttering campaign with a strong showing in Asia. It started off disappointingly in Hangzhou with a surprise early defeat to Yibing Wu, but he then went on to make the semi-finals in Beijing and Shanghai. Nevertheless, he did lose both matches to lower ranked players in Learner Tien and Arthur Rinderknech, with a first title since May 2023 still alluding the Russian.

Walton leads the head-to-head after beating Medvedev earlier this year in Cincinnati. The 2021 US Open champion is in much better form this time around and should start as the heavy favourite.
