Adam Walton vs Benjamin Bonzi prediction
Adam Walton is coming off the back of a strong showing in Los Cabos, as he made the semi-finals. He came from a set down to beat fellow Aussie James Duckworth in the quarters but was thoroughly uncompetitive against Denis Shapovalov in their last four match, losing 6-2 6-2. Nevertheless, Walton did pick up a string of wins heading into the hard court swing in Canada and the United States.
He faces Benjamin Bonzi in the first-round here. Bonzi made the headlines last month with his shock victory over former world number one Daniil Medvedev in the first-round of Wimbledon. However, since then, he has failed to register a victory as he lost to Jordan Thompson in the next round despite the match going to five sets. The transition back to hard courts was unsuccessful in Washington as he lost in straight sets in round one to Fabian Marozsan.
Despite that win over Medvedev, Bonzi has struggled for form all season and we like Walton’s chances here, especially after his run in Mexico.
