Adam Walton will be hoping to end a three match losing run when he begins his campaign in Dallas. He failed to qualify for the Adelaide International and was handed the toughest draw imaginable as he faced world number one Carlos Alcaraz in the first-round of the Australian Open, going on to lose in straight sets despite an admirable display. Walton then dropped down to play a Challenger in Brisbane, but lost in round one. He is ranked just inside the top 100 of the world rankings.
Despite an eight match losing streak, stretching back to last season, Adrian Mannarino burst to life in Montpellier as he advanced to his first final since November 2023 with four straight wins. This included an impressive victory over Ugo Humbert, which saw the veteran save match points on his way to winning. He was uncompetitive in that final, failing to generate a break point opportunity as Felix Auger-Aliassime defended his title.
Mannarino can be a streaky player, but he will be confident after his previous event and has enough quality to get past Walton in the first-round.
