THE PREDICTION
This promises to be a thriller on Monday between dark horses for a deep run at the Miami Open. World number nine Hubert Hurkacz won his first Masters title here three years ago, beating Jannik Sinner in the final, but Florida native Sebastian Korda came close with a run to the quarter-finals that firmly put his name in the conversation. World number 29 Korda has struggled to stay fit on tour long enough to make full use of his clear talents but he beat Hurkacz in five sets to reach the quarter-finals of the Australian Open last season, having stunned former finalist Daniil Medvedev the round before, to prove what he can do in these conditions.
Hurkacz has won each of their last two encounters since, though, to take a 3-1 lead in their head-to-head record that includes victory in the Delray Beach Open final in 2021. Both players somewhat laboured to wins in three sets on Saturday to suggest this clash will need a decider, just as their most recent battle did in Paris late last season.
