THE PREDICTION

World number five Andrey Rublev impressed in a straight-sets victory over Christopher Eubanks, improving on an early scare in that five-set opener against Thiago Seyboth Wild. The 26-year-old is riding a six-match winning streak into the third round after winning his 18th ATP title at the Hong Kong Open two weeks ago but this is a deceptively tough fixture against world number 26 Sebastian Korda, who reached the quarter-finals here last season before an injury saw him retire against Karen Khachanov.

23-year-old Korda stunned former finalist Daniil Medvedev in straight-sets at this stage 12 months ago, also stunning Hubert Hurkacz in five before that tough injury, but he also improved on a choppy five-set opener in the first round with a consummate victory over Quentin Halys on Wednesday. Expect lengthy rallies between Rublev’s fierce, consistent ball and Korda’s languid angles but back Rublev to win at least two sets as the likelier of two very capable victors here, leading Korda as he does 2-0 in their head-to-head record.

TIP: ADREY RUBLEV TO WIN TWO SETS
