World number 77 Jason Kubler overcame a good grass-courter in Ugo Humbert in five thrilling, topsy-turvy sets on Wednesday to maintain his excellent record at Wimbledon. The 30-year-old reached the round of 16 here last season before defeat to Taylor Fritz and he won the Ilkley Challenger two weeks ago to bring some strong form on grass into SW19. World number 28 Nicolas Jarry came back from a set down to beat Marco Cecchinato in the first round but this will be a much tougher test. The Chilean has been one of the best players on his favoured clay this season, adding two ATP titles to a career total of three on the surface in Santiago and Geneva, but he looks the slightest of underdogs in this first meeting with Kubler in these conditions. Set should go both ways here given the career-best season Jarry is enjoying but back Kubler to earn at least two of them to leave the victor up to chance.
