THE PREDICTION

World number one Iga Swiatek came up against one of the tougher versions of Sloane Stephens on Tuesday, passing the test in straight sets to extend her winning streak to five. The 22-year-old became the first player on the WTA tour to win the same title three times on the spin since Serena Williams (Miami 2013-15) last week in Doha, where she overcame world number four Elena Rybakina to make a big statement of intent for the coming months.

With world number two Aryna Sabalenka crashing out of the draw on Tuesday, the way looks clear for Swiatek to go one better than her runner-up finish to Barbora Krejcikova this time last season but this is another tough test against Elina Svitolina, who is yet to drop a set this week in Dubai. The former number three returned to tour last summer with a vengeance, and a new look aggressive game, to stun Swiatek in three sets in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon. The pair share a 1-1 head-to-head record in which Swiatek has earned at least a set in each, offering a cautious way out of picking the winner here, but the Pole is in a much better moment right now whilst Svitolina is a little off that remarkable peak. Back Swiatek to win.

TIP: IGA SWIATEK TO WIN
