World number 20 Petra Kvitova beat Paula Badosa in straight sets on Wednesday in a high-quality encounter. The former world number two and two-time Wimbledon champion is a well-loved home favourite here in Ostrava and she will be backed to the hilt against the current champion from SW19, Elena Rybakina. 23-year-old Rybakina should be a top 10 player after beating Jabeur to her maiden major trophy back in July but a lack of ranking points there was both controversial and, seemingly detrimental, as the Kazakh’s form has suffered since. Rybakina has twice come back from a set down to beat top players in Madison Keys and Aliaksandra Sasnovich in Ostrava but an in-form Kvitova should be a level above. Given Rybakina’s results so far, take Kvitova to win at least a set inside an accumulator or take the outright win on its own.
