Former world number six Gael Monfils moved back up to world number 211 after a superb week in Toronto, where he stunned Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets en-route to a quarter-final exit to eventual champion Jannik Sinner. The 36-year-old’s form has picked up remarkably quickly since his return from injury but it remains to be seen how he will cope fitness-wise after his exploits. World number 15 Cam Norrie takes a three-match losing streak into the Cincinnati Open after defeat in the first round of Toronto to eventual runner-up Alex de Minaur. The 27-year-old won his most prestigious ATP title at Indian Wells around this time two years ago but he has cut a frustrated figure on tour in recent months, with February’s Rio Open victory a distant memory in terms of form. Monfils leads Norrie 2-0 in their head-to-head but the pair have not played since 2019, with Norrie vastly improving since and Monfils not getting any younger. Take Norrie to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance, with the Brit tough to beat in two.
