THE PREDICTION
Both world number five Andrey Rublev and number 40 Tallon Griekspoor came into the Qatar Open at their respective career-high rankings and this first meeting between the two could end up the match of the day. 25-year-old Rublev received a bye to the round of 16 as the top seed here in Doha but he could probably have done with an easier opening round fixture after losing at this stage to Alex de Minaur last week in Rotterdam. 26-year-old Griekspoor overcame Quentin Halys in three tight sets on Tuesday to get a useful match in his legs and a run to the semi-finals in Rotterdam saw impressive performances in victory over Alexander Zverev as well as in defeat to Jannik Sinner. Griekspoor has only lost twice this season after claiming his maiden ATP title at the Pune Open early last month but 2020 champion Rublev tends to play well in Doha. Back the Russian to win outright or consider taking Griekspoor to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance.
