World number six Andrey Rublev should be considered a dark horse for the Monte-Carlo Open title as a very capable clay-courter. The 25-year-old has needed top quality opponents to oust him from his last three tournaments, including Daniil Medvedev in the final of the Dubai Tennis Championships, and he beat Novak Djokovic to the Serbia Open title on clay almost a year ago. World number 83 Jaume Munar is certainly more at home on the surface but the Spaniard brings a poor 5-9 record into Monte-Carlo with very little dependable form to speak of. A three-set victory over Marc-Andrea Huesler on Sunday is a solid opener in these conditions but whilst this match could feature plenty of long rallies between two ball-machines it is likely that Rublev will enjoy the lion’s share of the key points. Back Rublev to win outright inside an accumulator or otherwise in straight sets, with caution wise on his first clay match of the season.
