THE TEAM NEWS

ITALY

  • Italy conceded five tries and offered one of their own in a less than embarrassing 37-10 defeat away in Paris last weekend, with some genuine positives to take away.
  • Head coach Kieran Crowley has made three changes as Fedrico Mori replaces last week’s try-scorer Tommaso Menoncello, with Braam Steyn and Pietro Ceccarelli also coming in to start.

Italy: 15 Edoardo Padovani, 14 Federico Mori, 13 Juan Ignacio Brex, 12 Marco Zanon, 11 Monty Ioane, 10 Paolo Garbisi, 9 Stephen Varney, 8 Toa Halafihi, 7 Michele Lamaro (c), 6 Braam Steyn, 5 Federico Ruzza, 4 Niccolo Cannone, 3 Pietro Ceccarelli, 2 Gianmarco Lucchesi, 1 Danilo Fischetti

Replacements: 16 Epalahame Faiva, 17 Cherif Traore’, 18 Tiziano Pasquali, 19 David Sisi, 20 Sebastian Blacks, 21 Giovanni Pettinelli, 22 Alessandro Fusco, 23 Leonardo Marin

ENGLAND

  • England lost in the Calcutta Cup for the second Six Nations running after a thrilling 20-17 defeat at Murrayfield to Scotland was settled on the risky decision not to kick to tie the game.
  • Head coach Eddie Jones is handing starts to Alex Dombrandt and Harry Randall for this likely procession in Rome, with Charlie Ewels coming in for the injured Lewis Ludlam amongst the eight changes.

England: 15 Freddie Steward, 14 Max Malins, 13 Joe Marchant, 12 Henry Slade, 11 Jack Nowell, 10 Marcus Smith, 9 Harry Randall, 8 Alex Dombrandt, 7 Tom Curry (c), 6 Maro Itoje, 5 Nick Isiekwe, 4 Charlie Ewels, 3 Will Stuart, 2 Jamie George, 1 Ellis Genge

Replacements: 16 Luke Cowan-Dickie, 17 Joe Marler, 18 Kyle Sinckler, 19 Ollie Chessum, 20 Sam Simmonds, 21 Ben Youngs, 22 George Ford, 23 Elliot Daly

THE PREDICTION

England will be aiming to express themselves in Rome in this Six Nations gimme after a stuttering start against Scotland last weekend. Head coach Eddie Jones will likely rotate the XV throughout this Sunday afternoon offensive exercise in the hope that the side are more finely tuned ahead of three must-win matches against Wales, Ireland and France. The Azzurri left Paris with their heads a little higher than usual in the Six Nations last weekend but they still lost by a margin if -27 and England can target -25 here for a comfortable trip.
