THE TEAM NEWS

SALFORD RED DEVILS

  • Salford Red Devils’ poor run of form continued as they were beaten by Hull KR last week despite almost fighting back from an 18-point half-time deficit but it did not prove to be enough.
  • The Red Devils scored 16 unanswered points after the break to draw to within two of their opponents but they failed to kick on and they know they need to be better across the full 80 minutes or face losing for the fourth consecutive match.

21-man squad: 1 Ryan Brierley, 2 Ken Sio, 4 Tim Lafai, 5 Joe Burgess, 6 Brodie Croft, 7 Marc Sneyd, 8 Sitaleki Akauola, 9 Andy Ackers, 10 Greg Burke, 11 Shane Wright, 13 Elijah Taylor, 14 Danny Addy, 15 King Vuniyayawa, 16 Ryan Lannon, 18 Chris Atkin, 19 Jack Ormondroyd, 20 Jack Wells, 21 Josh Johnson, 22 Rhys Williams, 28 Deon Cross, 29 Alex Gerrard

Unavailable: Kallum Watkins, Harvey Livett, Dan Sarginson

Questionable: Greg Burke

LEEDS RHINOS

  • Leeds Rhinos were bitterly disappointing as they failed to live with Hull FC last week with that loss meaning that that Rhinos were unable to build on their opening win of the season in their prior game against Wakefield Trinity.
  • It has been a poor start for Richard Agar’s men and the head coach has come under increasing scrutiny after last week’s dreadful performance in which they only crossed for two consolation scores late in the contest, although they are boosted by the return of Kruise Leeming, James Bentley and Cameron Smith for this clash.

21-man squad: 1 Jack Walker, 2 David Fusitu’a, 4 Liam Sutcliffe, 5 Ash Handley, 6 Blake Austin, 7 Aidan Sezer, 8 Mikolaj Oledzki, 9 Kruise Leeming, 11 James Bentley, 12 Rhyse Martin, 13 Zane Tetevano, 14 Brad Dwyer, 15 Alex Mellor, 17 Cameron Smith, 19 Bodene Thompson, 20 Tom Briscoe, 21 Morgan Gannon, 23 Jack Broadbent, 24 Jarrod O’Connor, 25 James Donaldson, 29 Liam Tindall

Unavailable: Tom Holroyd, Richie Myler, Sam Walters, Harry Newman, Matt Prior

Questionable: James Donaldson, Mikolaj Oledzki, David Fusitu’a

THE PREDICTION

Salford Red Devils and Leeds Rhinos will both be desperate to come out on top of this clash with the pair failing to set the world alight in the early part of the season. The Red Devils have lost their last three having won their opening two matches while it is just one win in five for the Rhinos. The pair will need to show major improvements if they are to climb up the table but with them producing so little quality between them so far, it is difficult to split them. With that in mind, it could be worth siding with the home side who have the benefit of a +6.5 start on the handicap.
