THE TEAM NEWS

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS

  • South Sydney Rabbitohs recorded a much-needed win having won just one of their prior five matches as they got the better of top four rivals New Zealand Warriors.
  • The Bunnies did what was required to eventually claim a straightforward victory but their side will look very different for this encounter with Cameron Murray, Cody Walker, Damien Cook and Keaon Koloamatangi all on Origin duty.

Starting 13: Taaffe, Johnston, Tass, Milne, Munro, Hawkins, Ilias, Tatola, Havili, Burgess, Lovett, Chee Kam, S. Mitchell – Interchanges: Mamouzelos, Duncan, Moale, Sele – Reserves: Kennar, Karapani, Suluka-Fifita, Knight, Gagai

Unavailable: Latrell Mitchell (Injured), Jai Arrow (Injured), Jacob Host (Suspended), Campbell Graham (Injured), Cameron Murray (Origin), Cody Walker (Origin), Damien Cook (Origin), Keaon Koloamatangi (Origin)

CANTERBURY BULLDOGS

  • Canterbury Bulldogs were humiliated in their clash with Newcastle Knights last week as they shipped 66 points without reply in what was a fourth successive loss.
  • The Bulldogs are right in the mix to finish with the wooden spoon but have reacted to that heavy defeat by making several changes to their side with Toby Sexton arriving from Gold Coast Titans during the week to start at halfback.

Starting 13: Averillo, Kiraz, Burns, Topine, Wilson, Burton, Sexton, King, Mahoney, Sutton, Okunbor, Preston, Faitala-Mariner – Interchanges: Flanagan, Morrin, Pangai Jnr., Edwards – Reserves: Hoffman, Oloapu, Skelton, Quai-Ward, Patolo

Unavailable: Luke Thompson (Injured), Bailey Biondi-Odi (Injured), Viliame Kikau (Injured), Josh Addo-Carr (Origin)

THE PREDICTION

South Sydney Rabbitohs will field a significantly weakened side as they take on Canterbury Bulldogs. The Bunnies produced a good display in New Zealand last week to topple the Warriors but are without four players to Origin call-ups as well as missing a handful of others through injury. It gives some of their second-string a chance to stake a claim in the side and they will feel they can compete in this clash with Canterbury Bulldogs. They come into this having lost their last four after an embarrassing defeat to Newcastle Knights and they might struggle to respond to that 0-66 annihilation with the Rabbitohs able to make it back-to-back successes.
