FPL Gameweek 3 – clean sheet predictions

Ahead of Gameweek 3, we take a look at which teams have the best chance of keeping a clean sheet.

Top of the pile are the two teams from Manchester who have close to a 50% chance of keeping a clean sheet. Man Utd welcome Crystal Palace to Old Trafford, while for Man City it’s a trip to the south coast to play Bournemouth. City are always good value for a clean sheet and amazingly have only conceded one Premier League goal from open play since January 30th. United on the other hand have looked far sturdier at the back following the summer arrivals of Harry Maguire (£5.5m) and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£5.6m).

Wolves offer a potential alternative to the traditional big-hitters for FPL managers hunting clean sheets, as Burnley make the trip to Molineux in GW3. Wing-backs Matt Doherty (£6.0m) and Jonny Castro (£5.5m) offer the double threat of both clean sheets and attacking returns, hence their elevated price tags, while the trio of Willy Boly (£5.0m), Conor Coady (£5.0m) and Ryan Bennett (£5.0m) are cheaper routes into Wolves’ back-line.

At the bottom are Bournemouth and Newcastle who respectively have a 6.4% and 8.7% probability of recording a shut-out. As mentioned, Bournemouth have the unenviable task of trying to keep Man City at bay, while Newcastle travel to London to face Spurs, fresh from conceding three away to Norwich. Goals will be the order of the day for the likes of Raheem Sterling (£12.2m), Sergio Aguero (£12.0m) and Harry Kane (£11.0m).
