Although Rob Cross still has a mathematical chance of making the playoffs, he realistically needed to go all the way in Liverpool last week. However, if he displays the same level in Aberdeen that took him to the final then he has every chance of at least making it past the quarter-finals. Voltage quite comfortably beat Van Gerwen in last week’s semi-final – the second time in three meetings in the 2024 Premier League that he has overcome the Dutchman – and there is every chance that he can prevail again. Although MVG has won four events in this year’s Premier League, more than any other player, he is simply lacking consistency. Another Cross victory could be worth backing.
