WHO ARE THE LEADING MEDAL CONTENDERS?

The world record for the men’s 50m breaststroke on a long course was set by Great Britain and England’s Adam Peaty. The 27 year-old set a time of 25.95 seconds in Budapest at the World Championships in 2017.

The Commonwealth Games record for this event was also set by the extremely impressive Peaty, with a time of 26.49 seconds at the Gold Coast games in 2018. Peaty did then lose the final, though, with South Africa’s Cameron van der Burgh taking gold and 2022’s 100m Breaststroke gold medalist, James Wilby, picking up bronze.

TSZ’S PREDICTION

Whilst Peaty has been the dominant swimmer in the Breaststroke for Great Britain and England in the last half-a-decade or so, he was stunned at the weekend. He was the quickest in qualifying for the final but missed out on a medal to England’s James Wilby, who took gold and Australian duo Zac Stubblety-Cook and Sam Williamson. There will be an immense determination from Peaty to get back on the podium and to the top of the podium.

TSZ Tip: ADAM PEATY (ENGLAND) TO WIN
