THE PREDICTION
Former world number eight Jack Sock won the latest of his four ATP titles at the Paris Masters back in 2017 and he has huge pedigree at this level despite his myriad injuries over the last few years. The current world number 147 will be a popular and well-backed player this tournament, especially in an exciting doubles pairing alongside fellow American veteran John Isner as they take on the top seeds of Mate Pavic and Nikola Mektic. 29-year-old Sock fares a decent chance at beating world number 119 Juan Manuel Cerundolo with the Argentine youngster winning just one of four tour-level matches this season so far. Cerundolo won his first ATP title this time last year at the Cordoba Open on his favoured clay but as of yet he has failed to replicate that level consistently. Matches involving injury-prone Sock should never be included in an accumulator but backing the American to win at least a set here looks a reasonable option here.
