THE PREDICTION

Former world number seven Danielle Collins announced that 2024 would be her last as a tennis professional in January and she has played with renewed purpose since. The 30-year-old reached the quarter-finals of the Qatar Masters last month, beating some top talent before a straight-sets exit to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, but her three-set defeats to Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina are her most impressive performances this season so far. Collins retired injured form the quarter-finals of the Austin Open last week but it was likely precautionary as she targets nothing less than titles on this final stint on the Sunshine Double. 19-year-old Erika Andreeva will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of 95th after coming through qualifying to make her Indian Wells debut, building on her impressive run to the second round of the Qatar Masters last month. The improving 19-year-old could prove a tough early test for Collins, whose fitness has to be questioned, so backing the American to win outright feels like the sensible concession here.

TIP: DANIELLE COLLINS TO WIN
