World number 10 Hubert Hurkacz is the defending champion at the Miami Open after a shock victory over Andrey Rublev in the semi-finals last season. The Pole beat Jannik Sinner in the final to win the third of now four ATP titles as he added the Moselle Open late last season to his Delray Beach Open and 2019 Winston-Salem titles. The 25-year-old has lost to Rublev on each of his last two tournaments, including the round of 16 at Indian Wells last time out. World number 58 Arthur Rinderknech beat Laslo Djere in straight sets on Thursday to snap a three-match losing streak stretching back to the semi-finals of the Qatar Open in February and he has a reasonable chance at the upset here with some excellent results behind him this season already. Hurkacz, though, can be trusted to come through this tough opener the outright winner.
