18-year-old Arthur Fils will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 85th no matter the outcome of his first ATP final on tour after a thrilling three-set victory over Brandon Nakashima on Friday. The Frenchman can expect a roiling cauldron of an atmosphere in his favour on Saturday after whipping the home fans up into a frenzy over the week but his opponent looks the slightest of favourites still. World number 28 Francisco Cerundolo enjoyed a comfortable win over defending champion Cam Norrie on Friday but recent wins over Casper Ruud in Madrid and Jannik Sinner in Rome put his working level on clay well inside the top 20 on tour. The 24-year-old claimed his maiden ATP title at the Bastad Open on the surface last summer and he is not the kind to shrink under the pressure here. Back Cerundolo to earn at least a set for caution’s sake but the Argentine should be able to edge to victory.
