THE PREDICTION

World number 14 Victoria Azarenka continued her excellent early form this season with an assured victory over old foe Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on Monday. The former world number one reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open, where she won her two Grand Slam titles in 2012 and 2013, before defeat to eventual runner-up Elena Rybakina and that level should be too much for Amanda Anisimova at this moment in time. World number 35 Anisimova will doubtless trouble the top of the sport one day soon but the 21-year-old has struggled to find consistency for much of the last 12 months on tour. A straight-sets victory over veteran Vera Zvonareva on Sunday is a solid start to her Dubai Masters campaign but despite beating Azarenka in straight sets in their first encounter at the Madrid Masters last spring this looks like the Belarussian’s to lose. Back Azarenka to win outright, or take at least a set inside an accumulator.
