THE PREDICTION
World number 13 Naomi Osaka looked shaky, rusty and out of match practice against Alize Cornet on Tuesday but her fierce talent shone through eventually in a three-set victory. The 24-year-old is the reigning Australian Open champion and it will not take much for her to regain full control of her powers, with this round of 16 tie against Maryna Zanevska a kinder fixture than Cornet. 28-year-old Zanevska was impressive, though, in her straight-sets victory over Petra Martic on Tuesday and she was improving steadily throughout 2021 with a first WTA title won at the Poland Open in July. Osaka could struggle throughout this tournament and she is unlikely to win it unless she finds at least three more gears but the Japanese star can win this outright to reach the quarter-finals.
