THE PREDICTION
World number 67 Stefano Travaglia will have been disappointed to lose in the first round of the Sardegna Open last week to a returning Gilles Simon, but the Italian is a useful clay court player all the same and will be competitive in this first meeting with Pablo Carreno Busta. 29-year-old Carreno Busta, the new world number 12, enters the Monte-Carlo Open off the back of winning his fifth ATP title at the Andalucía Open on Sunday and whilst many players fall ill of the quick turnaround from a title win to the first round of a new tournament, he is not likely to be one of them. A tougher opponent might have caught PCB out early on in Monte-Carlo but the Spaniard has a real outside shot at a first Masters title this week if the draw is kind and he should come through this first match in confident straight sets.
