THE TEAM NEWS

WALES

  • Wales will hope to put their off-field drama behind them as they take on England, looking to get off the mark in what has been a very underwhelming start to the Six Nations.
  • There was talk that the Welsh players could strike over contractual disputes ahead of this game and that will not have helped their preparations having lost out heavily to Scotland in their last contest.

Starting XV: Halfpenny; Adams, Grady, Hawkins, Rees-Zammit; O. Williams, T. Williams; G. Thomas, Owens, Francis, Beard, AW. Jones, Tshiunza, Tipuric, Faletau

Replacements: Roberts, Carre, Lewis, Jenkins, Reffell, Hardy, Biggar, Tompkins

ENGLAND

  • England claimed their first win of the Steve Borthwick era as they proved to be too good for Italy in a relatively comfortable success at Twickenham last time out.
  • England will need to back that up here and show further improvement if they are to add another success and they have been handed a boost ahead of the game with vice-captain Courtney Lawes returning on the bench.

Starting XV: Steward; Malins, Slade, Lawrence, Watson; Farrell, Van Poortvliet; Genge, George, Sinckler; Itoje, Chessum; Ludlam, Willis, Dombrandt

Replacements: Walker, M. Vunipola, Cole, Lawes, B. Curry, Mitchell, M. Smith, Arundell

THE PREDICTION

Wales were on the end of a big loss to Scotland last time out and they may find it hard to get back to winning ways as they host England. The Welsh will have to dig deep after a couple of disappointing performances and a big off-field distraction in the build-up to this game. On the other hand, England will hold no fear as they aim to make it back-to-back victories after overcoming Italy. On paper, this should be a tight affair but unless there are big improvements from Wales, it is the away side that look likely to prevail.
