THE TEAM NEWS

HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS

  • Huddersfield Giants produced a solid performance to make it back-to-back wins for interim head coach Luke Robinson and last week’s victory over Castleford Tigers means they have put themselves right into the mix for a spot in the top four.
  • Despite trailing 19-12 after the break, the Giants scored 19 unanswered points to finish the game strongly and earn the win to boost their percentage to 50% which sees them sit just two places off the top four.
  • The Giants were hoping to have Lee Gaskell back for this fixture but he will be absent once again while Jordan Turner and Darnell McIntosh are also out but Matty English returns to bolster the front row.

21-man squad: Butterworth, Cudjoe, Edwards, English, Gavet, Golding, Hewitt, Holmes, Lawrence, Matagi, McGillvary, McQueen, Michael, Russell, Sezer, Trout, Ja. Wardle, Wilson, Wood, Young

Unavailable: Jon Luke Kirby, Chester Butler, Aaron Murphy, Adam Walne, Ukuma Ta’ai, Adam O’Brien, Joe Wardle, Louis Senior, Lee Gaskell, Darnell McIntosh, Jordan Turner

HULL KR

  • Hull KR were unable to live with Leeds Rhinos last week as they conceded 40 points for the second week running against the Rhinos but they will be hopeful of producing a better display as they take on Huddersfield Giants.
  • Having been knocked out of the Challenge Cup in the previous week, Rovers were again on the end of a one-sided scoreline as the Rhinos proved too good for them and the margin of victory could have been even larger than 25 points had Leeds converted numerous chances.
  • Rovers are boosted by the return of Jordan Abdull from suspension while the likes of George Lawler, Greg Minikin and Weller Hauraki are back in the 21-man squad after they were afforded a rest last week but there is no place for new signing George King.

21-man squad: Abdull, Brierley, Crooks, Ellis, Gee, Harrison, Hauraki, Kenny-Dowall, Lawler, Lewis, Linnett, Maher, Minchella, Minikin, Mulhern, Murray, Parcell, Peteru, Rawsthorne, Tate, Trout

Unavailable: Mose Masoe, Adam Quinlan, Will Dagger, Matty Storton, Ethan Ryan, Dean Hadley, Mitch Garbutt, George King

THE PREDICTION

Huddersfield Giants have now won both matches since former head coach Simon Woolford left the club with interim boss Luke Robinson guiding his new side to back-to-back wins. The Giants are now right in the mix for a top four spot and have a favourable run-in which should help their cause. They take on a Hull KR side that have shipped 40 points in each of their last two matches and they will be eager to put in a better display in this one. They have a stronger squad to choose from here but that might not be enough to prevent the Giants from winning this by at least eight points.
