THE TEAM NEWS

WESTS TIGERS

  • Wests Tigers were brought back down to earth after recording successive victories with South Sydney Rabbitohs nilling them last week.
  • It was not a completely unexpected result for Wests but they will be eager to improve their attacking output here with Tim Sheens opting not to make any changes to his side.

Starting 13: Bula, Nofoaluma, To’a, Talau, Tupou, Wakeham, Brooks, Utoikamanu, Koroisau, Klemmer, Papali’i, Bateman, Pole – Interchanges: Simpkin, Ofahengaue, Twal, Kepaoa – Reserves: Seyfarth, Blore, Matamua, Laurie, James

Unavailable: Adam Doueihi (Injured), Charlie Staines (Injured), Brent Naden (Suspended)

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS

  • North Queensland Cowboys will hope that they have turned a corner after securing a second win in succession, the first time they have gone back-to-back so far this season.
  • They prevailed in convincing fashion against St. George Illawarra Dragons last week and will be full of confidence here but a head knock to Jamayne Taunoa-Brown has forced the prop to drop out with Riley Price coming onto the bench.

Starting 13: Drinkwater, Feldt, Holmes, Hiku, Taulagi, Dearden, Townsend, McLean, Robson, Hess, Luki, Gosiewski, Cotter – Interchanges: Granville, Dunn, Price, Finefeuiaki – Reserves: Laybutt, Hampton, Namo, Elliot, McIntyre

Unavailable: Luciano Leilua (Stood down), James Tamou (Injured), Griffin Neame (Injured), Jason Taumalolo (Injured), Jeremiah Nanai (Suspended), Tom Chester (Injured), Jamayne Taunoa-Brown (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Wests Tigers and North Queensland Cowboys will both fancy their chances of prevailing in this contest but the away side will be the more confident of the two. They have won three of their last four on the back of beating St. George Illawarra Dragons last week but will also be mindful that they are yet to win outside of Queensland this year. Wests went down to a quality South Sydney Rabbitohs outfit last week and performed well in their prior two matches so they are favoured to respond here, largely because of the Cowboys’ struggles on the road.
