DA’MON BLACKSHEAR VS MARIO BAUTISTA LOWDOWN

Da’Mon Blackshear (14-5-1) returns to the Octagon just one week after beating Jose Johnson with what was only the third-ever twister submission in UFC history last weekend at UFC on ESPN 51. Da Monster can make yet more history if he grabs a win here as he would become the first fighter to win two bouts within seven days in the UFC in the modern era.

He will face a surging Mario Bautista who holds a 12-2 record and has won his last four in a row. He was due to face Cody Garbrandt here but after his withdrawal just days ago, he will have to adjust and focus on Blackshear now. That is unlikely to phase him however and Bautista will be aiming to make it number five and continue his pish towards a title shot.

DA’MON BLACKSHEAR VS MARIO BAUTISTA PREDICTION

Both Blackshear and Bautista are submission specialists who are making waves in the Bantamweight division but it is Bautista who is the one closest to the upper echelons in the division.

It is a remarkable turnaround for Blackshear who fights just seven days since his last win. This does represent a real step up in quality however and Bautista will be confident of getting the win here. A submission win is the most likely but this could easily go to the scorecards given the fact the pair’s skillset may counteract each other.

Prediction: Bautista to win
