THE TEAM NEWS

LEGION

  • Legion were well aware that their first game in the Meistriliiga was going to be a tough one as they travelled to last year’s champions Flora and that turned out to be the case as they were defeated in their only game before the suspension of the league.
  • They fell behind in the eighth minute but did well to respond just five minutes later thanks to a strike from Marek Satov and they looked like they were holding their own until Artjom Artjunin put through his own net just before half-time.
  • Another Flora goal seven minutes into the second half gave the hosts a comfortable advantage with Legion unable to get themselves back on level terms and they will hope for a better outcome in this first contest on home soil.

FCI LEVADIA

  • FCI Levadia got their campaign off to a winning start as they edged Kuressaare in their opening match of the season and they will hope to continue where they left off as they return to action.
  • Oleksandr Safronov scored the only goal of the game in the 19th minute with the 20-year-old’s effort proving to be decisive but he went from hero to zero after he was given his marching orders for two yellow cards in the lead-up to half-time.
  • Safranov will now be suspended for this clash for a Levadia side who will be hoping for another season of challenging at the top of the table after last year’s second-placed finish, although they will need to show big improvements after finishing 12 points behind Flora.

THE PREDICTION

FCI Levadia were able to overcome a first half red card to claim victory in their opening game of the Meistriliiga season. They were aided by opponents Kuressaare also seeing a man sent off in the second half as they were able to hang on to the slender lead. They now travel to Legion who were no match for champions Flora in their first game and with another tough match-up in store here, the hosts are likely to struggle with Levadia able to claim a comfortable victory.
